Here at JucyAfrica we like nothing more than to profile a Smart Hot Girl and uber talented Siyanda certainly fits the bill. This accomplished jewellery maker has already gained national exposure on Top Billing as well as dressed luminaries like Claire Mawisa and this is just the beginning. Miss Stofile was kind enough to answer some questions about her career and future plans.

How would you introduce yourself to someone who never met you?

I am a simple girl from the Eastern Cape who was born with a creative ability. I have a deep love for art and design and am fortunate in that I am able to combine the two and create some truly breathtaking jewellery.

What are your thoughts on the celeb scene is SA?

I am an artist through and through so I find the ‘celeb’ scene very exciting. The fashion and styling for events is what inspires my work. When it comes to the actual celebrities, I have so much love and respect for them since the few I have had the pleasure to meet have been incredible. They have been a strong source of encouragement for me and have motivated me throughout my journey as a designer.

We only ever get to see the glam parts of your job, are there any downsides to being as awesome as you are?

There are always challenges when starting your own business, especially when you do it at such a young age. I am happiest when I am creating and sketching, but the reality is, I need to focus on growth and expansion. I consider myself fortunate in being able to figure out what i love and do it everyday so I try to embrace the challenges.

What advice do you have for young people who want to follow in your footsteps?

Allow yourself to feel every part of the process and to be grateful throughout. When things get really tough, it’s okay to cry. When people closest to you mock or discourage you, do not allow it to deter you. Whether things go really well and you accomplish the goals you’ve set, or really badly and you feel like a complete failure, take a moment, and say thank you then try again.

As a black female jeweler do you feel like you are making history?

I would hope I am. I’ve never looked at it that way. Everyday, I try to work harder than I did the day before. I try to be the best at what I do, I try to improve upon my skill and i try to make my mother proud of me. If I end up making history someday I’d say I lived my life well.

You have amazing women like Claire Mawisa wearing your stuff and have been featured on Top Billing, is there anyone else you would like your brand to be associated with?

I would like my brand to be associated with all women. There are a few women I would love to dress, Michelle Obama comes to mind.Mainly due to the fact that I do not limit myself to local role models and because she always has incredible jewelry on that is very similar to mine. I cater to women who like to stand out. Women who know what they want and aren’t afraid to say it. I often find that my clients enjoy challenging me. I learn more about how much further I can take my ability through them and I love that.

How would you describe the typical Butter Jewelery customer?

A Butter Jewellery customer can be bold and fearless or simple and stylish. My collections vary from simple and classy to breathtaking and elegant. My customers aim is not to blend in, but to stand out at every event.

What do you like to do to relax?

To relax I travel and I read. I do a lot of traveling in search of rare stones throughout the country and I am currently in the process of expanding my business and adding holiday packages. I am in business of helping women spoil themselves because they deserve it and I explore all avenues that can allow me to provide that.

What would you spend your last R50 on?

Favourite type of music?

Hip hop & RnB. I’m a die hard Tupac fan and I’ve grown to love Beyonce.

You have already achieved a lot in your industry , what are your next goals?

I’m currently enrolled at LISOF (London International School Of Fashion). Design has many aspects and I’m having fun exploring them. I am a big dreamer and an even bigger planner. I never limit myself and am looking to stock more boutiques outside South Africa and maybe open a few of my own.

Are you involved in any charities or initiatives to give back?
